LAHORE - Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited (PPCBL) has geared towards the development of agriculture sector through provision of financial services and facilitated working of the member Cooperative Societies. But this main pillar of Cooperative Movement having a history of over 80 years was seriously neglected by the previous Government, which resulted in liquidity problems, lack of IT infrastructure, recovery of overdue loans and human resource development issues, says a press release. He said that the previous Govt also tried to merge it with the Bank of Punjab. However, realizing importance of this institution, CM Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif directed to revamp PPCBL to promote growth of the cooperative movement with the aim to uplift the agriculture and rural sector by raising farm productivity, streamlining the institutional credit and increasing income generating capacity of the farming community.
