KARACHI – The Customs on Saturday celebrated International Customs Day under the umbrella of World Customs Organisation (WCO).

The celebration started in the morning at the Custom’s House Karachi was done by Chief Guest of the event, member customs FBR Muhammd Riaz, with the hoisting of flag.

A salute was given to flag by customs officers on national anthem. Chief collector customs, collector of customs MCC Preventive and large number of customs officers were present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, he Model Customs Collectorate, Karachi held a drug destruction ceremony at Neelam Point, Hawks Bay, Karachi. In the ceremony, 200 kilogrammes of heroin, 4,850 kilogrammes of hashish, 650 bottles of liquor and 132 cans of beer were destroyed.

Confiscated medicines, DVDs/CDs and a huge quantity of gutkas were also destroyed.

On the occasion, higher officials of different agencies, including Anti-Narcotic Force, Coast Guards, Maritime Security Agency, Environmental Protection Agency, and people from different walks of life witnessed the destruction ceremony.

The drugs liaison officers of various embassies were also present on the occasion.
