LAHORE – The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Saturday decided to award laptops to judicial officers if they decide cases with reconciliation between the litigant parties.  The decision aimed at encouraging the judges of district judiciary and promotion of reconciliation in the cases.

meeting: The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Saturday assured the Lahore Court Reporters Association (LCRA) to solve hurdles being faced by them during coverage of proceedings at Anti-terrorism and Accountability Courts.

Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial met the newly elected office bearers of LCRA led by President Saqlain Javed and Secretary Abid Khan. Vice Presidents Rizwan Khalid and Shaheen Atique, Finance Secretary Rajab Sheikh and Information Secretary Tahir Jaefree were also present on the occasion.

The reporters’ delegation informed the CJ that media men faced numerous hurdles while covering proceedings in anti-terrorism and accountability courts of the provincial capital. The CJ assured that the problems of the reporters on both courts would be solved immediately.

The CJ expressed hopes that court reporters would follow their line of impartiality during judicial reporting, and would also perform their duties purely on merit. The delegation also discussed other issues with the CJ.
