Doctors stage protest rally against killing of Dr Hasan Alam

KARACHI - Pakistan Psychiatric Society Sindh on Saturday staged a protest rally, in front of Karachi Press Club, to register their protest against killing of their senior colleague Dr. Hasan Alam.
A large number of psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, community health workers and social workers, carrying banners and placards, participated in the rally.
The banners were inscribed with their demands for urgent arrest of the killers of Dr. Hasan Alam, halt to killings in Karachi, particularly of those associated with medical community and immediate assistance to the bereaved family of the senior psychiatrist.
Later talking to media the office bearers of Pakistan Psychiatric Society, Dr Sohail Ahmed, Dr Majid Ali Abidi and others said their colleague had dedicated his life for the service of humanity.
They mentioned that he had served at different government hospitals in the province, including those functional in least developed areas.
He through his sincerity of purpose and professional competency had served the people in need and is still remembered by them, said Dr Sohail Ahmed.
Dr Majid Ali Abidi paying tribute to his assassinated co-professional said killers have snatched citizens of a competent psychiatrist and a humble human being.
He demanded of the authorities to provide fool proof security to the members of medical community who ensure their presence even in remotest areas to fulfill their professional obligations.
