LAHORE – Punjab Governor Makhdoom Syed Mahmood Ahmad called on JI leader Dr Waseem Akhtar at Mansoora and exchanged views on the current situation.

The governor also informed Dr Waseem about the progress made on the restoration of Bahawalpur province. After meeting, Dr Waseem told the media that Bahawalpur province should be restored while Janoobi Punjab will also be carved out as another province of Punjab. He said they also support creation of Hazara province and were in touch with the stalkhoders over the issue.

He said in case Bahawalpur is restored, rights of people in that part would be protected. The two leaders are the members of five-member Core Committee on the Restoration of Bahawalpur province, which also met on Friday.                             –Reporter

The Punjab governor has been much vocal for the restoration of Bahawlpur province including Multan and DGKhan but his wish does not match with what the Parliamentary Commission on New Provinces in Punjab has decided.

After the core committee meeting, the governor avoided talk with the media. Makhdoom did not speak when the journalists leapt to question him on the meeting decision and the entailing situation left the media making speculations.
