LAHORE – The menace of measles continued to haunt Lahorites as 15 more patients were admitted to different hospitals in the City on Saturday, taking the tally to 147 on Saturday.  Out of 15 patients, five were admitted to Services Hospital, four to Children’s Hospital and two each to Mayo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Lahore General Hospital.

Managing Director of Children’s Hospital Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore said that a 20-bed special ward had been established for measles patients. He said that the hospital was providing free diagnostic facilities and treatment to measles patients. Spokesman of Health Department Punjab has exhorted parents to ensure vaccination of children up to the age of two years to save them from measles.

Strike: The Young Doctors Association continued strike at OPDs of public sector hospitals across the province including the City on 11th day on Saturday, causing inconvenience to the suffering humanity.  The YDA Punjab has announced to continue strike at OPDs and provide healthcare facilities at makeshift camps till acceptance of demands. Protesting doctors established camps in parking lots and open spaces outside OPDs in some hospitals while majority of the health centres worked normally due to intervention of management and police. Senior doctors ensured normal working at OPDs of most of the tertiary care hospitals in Lahore. Though protesting doctors checked patients at makeshift camps, refusal of laboratories to carryout tests without proper token added to the miseries of suffering humanity. Management of hospitals continued preparing list of absent doctors and those forcing others to go on strike.
