RESIDENTS PROTEST DRAINAGE BLOCKAGE: The residents of Ghala Mandi, Madina Colony, Kotal

Tolay Khan and Khalid Colony here protested against drainage lines’ clogging and inundation of filthy water from overflowing gutters on the streets and roads.

They termed the situation  apathy of Water And Sanitation Authority (Wasa) and complained that foul and filth accumulated in front of their homes and shops was not only causing problem but also posing a serious health hazard for them.

When contacted, Wasa spokesman Hassan Bukhari blamed the people of these areas, claiming that sewerage lines often get clogged with debris due to their negligence, as they did not bother to put filter over their water outlets. Secondly, they never got registered any complaint about choking of drainage lines etc. He, however, assured that WASA would soon rectify the problem.
