Aqeel, Heera in PTF Open final

ISLAMABAD - Top seed Aqeel Khan and Heera Ashiq will clash in the men's singles final of AJCl/PTF Open Raking Tennis Tournament 2014 today (Monday).
In the first semifinal, Aqeel eliminated 3rd seed M Abid of Lahore in straight sets 7-6 (6), 6-0. Both the players displayed high class tennis in the first set and the scorer went to 6-6, as both players managed to hold on to their respective services and the set was decided on tie break. Abid was leading 6-3 in the tiebreak, but Aqeel showed why he is at the top as he played some excellent passing shots and won the tiebreak 8-6 by winning 5 points in a row. Aqeel was in full command in the second set and won the set without conceding a single game. In the second semi-final, 4th seed Heera of Lahore beat 5th seed Usman Rafiq also from Lahore in a well-contested two sets match 7-5, 6-4. Heera never allowed Usman to dictate terms right from the first set and kept on piling the pressure to take the match and enter the final. In the junior U-18 event, Syed Nofil Kaleem defeated 4th seed M Zaid Mujahid of Lahore 6-4, 6-4. Top seed M Mudassar beat Hamza Malik of Karachi in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 and will play final against Nofil. In the boy's U-14 event, Huzaifa Abdul Rehman will face Barkatullah of Peshawar in the final. Huzafia beat Saqib Umer 6-0, 7-6(4) while Barkatullah beat Ilham Khan of Peshawar 6-4, 6-2. Top seeds Aqeel and Jalil Khan won the men's doubles title by beating Yasir Khan and Shahzad khan in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. The match lasted for one hour.
