PESHAWAR - Central President of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan said that law and order situation in the country is going out of control and instead of confusion both provincial and federal government should chalk out a joint strategy regarding holding dialogue or launching military operation.
“The country is going toward a state of turmoil and in this critical juncture government should not waste more time to get confused,” Asfandyar said this while addressing the 26th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan and 8th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Wali Khan here at Wali Bagh Charsadda on Sunday.
Central Organiser of Awami National Party Haji Adeel, Provincial Organiser Basheer Matta former provincial minister Mian Ifikhar Hussain, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, former sports minister Syed Aqil Shah, Parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak, former MNA Bushra Gohar, former MNA Jamila Gillani, ANP leader Haroon Bilour and large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
Asfandyar Wali Khan said that certain elements are still talking about Kalabagh Dam but it is clear cut policy of Awami National Party that federal government should either choose Kalabagh Dam or Pakistan. He said that Kalabagh Dam is a controversial project, which would be aimed to destroy the land of Pakhtuns.
He said that government should not disturb the 18th constitutional amendment, which was made after long sacrifices. He warned that the consequences to review 18th constitutional amendment would be far-reaching. He mentioned that this time the country was facing serious challenges in the shape of militancy and lawlessness while both provincial and federal governments are confused to initiate dialogue process or launch military operation.
He said that federal government should call another conference to take all political leadership on board regarding development in the dialogue process.
Criticising the sit-in of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf against drone strikes and said that PTI government should also stage sit-in in Punjab and Sindh because these containers are passing form those routes and entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He maintained that by stopping NATO containers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a negative message against Pakhtuns was conveyed to the entire world. He said that the strikes against price hike are being held in Punjab while sit-in against drone attacks are being organised in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On this occasion ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Hashim Babar, Haji Adil also addressed the gathering and asked PTI government to take practical steps for the peace of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
On this occasion, the entire city of Charsadda has been decorated with Awami National Party red flags while large number of workers from the far-flung areas of Swat, Buner, Sawabi and Shangla participated in the death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan.
Meanwhile, tough security arrangements have been made in district charsadda to thwart any untoward incident. Heavy contingent of police and security forces has been deployed at various points of the city. Walk through gates has been installed at the entry points of the ANP gathering.
