An interesting slogan of NRA of USA, “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” Any policy disarming or harassing law-abiding citizens unwittingly goes in favour of armed outlaws. KPK has accepted this reality and allowed its teachers to be armed to obviate unchecked killers. Punjab Arms (Amendment) Ordinance 2015 (unclear about licensed arms) press notification of January 22, has prompted me to request Punjab government to kindly accept the fact that outlaws and not guns commit crime and guns with law-abiding citizens are deterrent to these outlaws. I wish the security forces would concentrate more on outlaws than guns, and that the Minister for Interior coordinates a uniform arms policy in all provinces facing similar threats plus to organise armed law-abiding citizens to support security forces.
