KARACHI - The International Customs Day was observed on Friday in a befitting manner at the Customs House with full zeal and fever. Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair graced the occasion as a chief guest and formally started the event with flag raising ceremony along with the chief collector of the enforcement south Manzoor Hussain Memon. In the event, customs officers and ‘jawans’ paid salute with the national anthem and students of Customs Public School sung patriotic songs.

To recognise the efforts and achievements in international sports, players of Pakistan customs were presented. The second event of destruction ceremony commenced at Customs Colony, Mauripur with the speech of the Collector of Customs Preventive, Karachi. Thereafter, all the distinguished guests were requested to join the site of destruction ceremony wherein the smuggled goods including liquor, beer canes, narcotics and gutka were destructed and torched. The destructed goods included 33226 liquor bottles, 20796 beer boxes, 6508 kilogrammes of hashish, 1.5 kilogrammes heroin and thousands of kilogrammes of gutka.
