Man shot dead by rivals in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR - A man was shot dead by unknown armed assailants belonging to the Teghani community over an old enmity outside Mehran Bijarani village on Friday.  According to Naparkot Police Station SHO Zahid Abro, unknown armed men gunned down Muhammad Umar, son of Fazal Muhammad Bijarani, when he was grazing his cattle outside his village and fled.

Police rushed to the scene and took the body to Taluka Hospital in Khanpur. They handed over the body of the victim to his heirs after the post-mortem examination.

According to the police, the bone of contention was said to be an old enmity between Teghani and Bijarani communities over a piece of agricultural land. This enmity has claimed many lives from both sides and left scores injured. Neither an FIR had been registered nor assailants arrested till Friday night when this report was filed.

DETAINED

Shikarpur Assistant Commissioner (AC) Syed Arbab Ali allegedly detained local writer and columnist Nasim Bukhari at Deputy Commissioner’s Office and misbehaved him.  Bukhari and Ajrak Club Secretary Agha Fareed were called to deputy commissioner’s office by the assistant commissioner to discuss Ajrak Club issues.

Members of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat Committee and civil society reached the DC office and staged a protest against AC Arbab Shah. Bhukhari was released on the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza. The protesters ended their protest on the assurance of the DC. Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) Secretary Ahmed Solangi condemned the act of the AC and demanded a notice against him.
