LAHORE - A 40-year-old trader was shot dead by two gunmen at his shop in the Urdu Bazaar on Friday evening, police said. The gunmen fled instantly. Dozens of traders gathered at the crime scene and staged a strong protest demonstration to condemn the shooting. Police identified the deceased as Muhammad Ashfaq who was running a book shop in the main Urdu Bazaar.  The motives behind the deadly shooting were not clear yet. A police official said that possibility of the gun attack during a shop robbery attempt could not be ruled out.  The trader was sitting at his shop when two motorcyclists appeared there. They opened straight fire on the trader after an argument. Ashfaq sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.

The police reached the crime scene when the motorcyclists had escaped.

The body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy. The police were investigating the killing with no arrest made yet.
