Haleem Adil Sheikh appointed as new Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly

Karachi - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Haleem Adil Sheikh on Tuesday replaced the party colleague Firdaus Shamim Naqvi as opposition leader in Sindh Assembly. Haleem assumed the charge after the Assembly Secretariat issued notification.  The newly appointed leader of opposition thanked Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan reposing confidence in him. He also expressed gratitude for his party’s MPAs as well as lawmakers belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) for supporting him.

He vowed to raise voice of Sindh and its people in the Assembly. Taking a jibe at ruling Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Haleem said that basic issues of the people were not resolved in last 13 years and the progress was made only in “corruption” by the PPP leaders. He said he would fight for the rights of labourers of Ghotki, to Harees of Larkana and businessmen of Karachi.

He said that outgoing opposition leader was old companion of the Prime Minister and he would get a key responsibility in the centre soon.

Haleem said that Chief Minster (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah was answerable to Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, people of Sindh and the provincial Assembly. “You (Sindh CM) would have to answer at the floor of assembly for corruption in Sindh during last 13 years. Murad and his henchmen have looted the funds of Sindh with both hands,” he added. Naqvi also greeted Haleem on becoming new opposition leader and said that the latter had gotten a brave and strong voice. After issuance of the notification, Haleem visited Naqvi’s residence and both went to the office of the opposition leader where Haleem formally took his responsibilities as the opposition leader.
