Peaceful no more

The law and order situation in Quetta and in Balochistan is very bad. The criminal activities in Quetta are rapidly increasing and provincial government is doing nothing about it. The present government made an immature decision when they pulled 7500 Frontier Corps men from the province and withdrew from hundreds of check posts. The provincial government has already forced the federal government to stay the hand of the army which was carrying out an operation against the outlaws and terrorists in the province. Police is helpless while facing these goons and now nobody can stop criminals from carrying out their activities. I request the federal government to intervene to restore peace and law and order in Quetta, which by the way used to be one of the most peaceful cities in Pakistan. -ASIF PATHAN, Quetta, via e-mail, July 11.
