A befitting response

As reported in The Nation on July 23, 2011, reacting to Hillary Clintons statement who wants India to play a more assertive role in South Asia, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said We dont want any Chaudhri (regional chief) in the region, which view is shared by the Army Chief as well. It has also been reported that the government has retracted the permission granted earlier to the United States to establish a consulate in Quetta. It is also nice to learn that US personnel are being forced to stick to rules instead of having free access all around, treating the whole country as their playground, like they had in the past. Now that the US leaders, their lawmakers and media have declared sort of full-scale war on us on all fronts, and together they are acting like small-time bullies, we have got to safeguard our interests without worrying too much about how they take it because past experience tells us that no matter how much we do, they will still keep complaining and will never be satisfied. However, it is shocking that drone attacks are continuing and cross-border shelling and attacks by Afghan militants, as well as violation of our airspace by NATO helicopters, are becoming a regular feature and are on the rise. Even strong protests by our officials in the past on these matters have failed to produce positive results and it seems that these can be stopped only by firm action on our part, starting with stopping NATO supplies going through Pakistan.
