CHITRAL-The Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) completed a hydropower house of 150 KV at Shahidas Shandor Road in upper Chitral.

Pak Army's Malakand 17 Division General Officer Commanding Maj-Gen Asif Ghaffor as chief guest inaugurated the newly completed hydropower house.

Addressing the function, SRSP District Programme Manager Tariq Ahmad said that they working on power generation in Chitral and at present some 25 hydropower houses are under completion in different remote valleys of Chitral that is not supplied electricity by Wapda.

He said that the power house having capacity of 150 KV will benefit 384 consumers. It was completed with total cost of some Rs29 million with Rs0.8 million share from the community who also provided free land for the purpose.

With two water tankers with 2,800-feet water channel, the power house will bring revolution in development of the valley.

Addressing the function, Maj-Gen Asif Ghaffor highly hailed the efforts of SRSP to provide electricity in the remote areas of Malakand Division. He announced the construction of a belly bridge on Nullah in the area which causes suspension of traffic. He also assured for establishment of handicraft center for women. Later, he unveiled the plaque of power house and inaugurated it properly by cutting the ribbon. Commandant Chitral Scouts Col Nizamuddin Shah, Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Abdul Hameed Khattak, AAC M Saleh, civil and military officers and Nazims, and councilors were also present. On the occasion, local people presented a culture show which enthralled the guests.
