Islamabad-The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library expressed concern over delay in construction of family suites for parliamentarians and increasing incidents of theft in Parliament Lodges.

The committee expressed its displeasure over the slow pace of work and directed CDA to ensure its completion within extended time of September 2016.

The chairman CDA informed that that 50 percent of work on the project has been completed and the contractor also opened the letter of credit to import the elevators and other equipments.

The deputy speaker expressed his annoyance over the non-implementation of Committee’s decisions and directed the Chairman CDA to give details briefing regarding the implementation of Committee decisions taken during last three years and pending enquiries regarding the issues of Parliament Lodges.

The committee expressed its reservations over the increasing incidents of theft at Parliament Lodges and directed the ICT police to give detail presentation on the security arrangements at the Parliament Lodges. The deputy speaker said that Parliament Lodges is sensitive place and no compromise will be tolerated in this regard.

The committee also directed to initiate enquiry against the responsible who issued NOC without clearance of outstanding dues of electricity and gas in respect of Parliament Lodges and Government Hostel.

The administration of Islamabad Capital Territory informed the committee that election of the management committee of NAECHS in which casual members of the society were elected as office bearers unopposed and the employees of the National Assembly have not taken part in this election has declared null and void as recommended by the Committee.  

The committee further informed that as per new schedule the election of the Management Committee will be held on 11th September, 2016 and last date for the submission of nomination papers is 27thSeptember, 2016.

The President FECHS apprised the committee that 226 plots are ready for handing over the possession to the members of the NAECHS. The committee constituted a departmental committee comprising on one officer each from National Assembly, ICT and CDA to visit the site to examine the plots physically and submit its report to Committee on House and Library before Monday i.e. 1st August, 2016.  

The committee decided to visit the site for handing over the possession of plots to members of the society after receiving the report of department committee.  The committee assured that the rights of the employees will protect and no one will be allowed to misappropriate the hard earn saving of the employees.
