RAWALPINID (APP) - Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) Chairman Sheikh Anjum Bashir has said that there will be no shortage of sugar during Ramazan as TCP has sugar stocks of 369,000 tones. He said this while addressing traders and industrialists at Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry here. The main responsibility of the corporation is to import commodities and maintain their stocks so that shortage of essential items in the market could be eliminated, he said adding We always tried hard in this regard and fulfilled our responsibility in an effective manner. He said improvement of ties with trading community is an important agenda of TCP and in this regard Chamber was given representation in TCPs Board of governors. The Chairman informed that recently tenders were floated for the import of Urea fertilizer and now after proper and transparent scrutiny, the process for awarding tenders would be completed. President RCCI appreciating the role of TCP in development of the country said contrary to the facts, some elements try to defame the corporation for their vested interest. We have full confidence in the working of TCP, he said adding in future the relations between RCCI and TCP would further be strengthened at all level. TCP does not control the prices of the commodities rather the corporation deals with their timely imports and provision on suitable prices so that availability of essential items in open market could be ensured, he added. President RCCI hoped that due to the steps taken by the TCP, there would be no shortage of sugar particularly during Ramazan adding, sugar mafia creates artificial shortage of the commodity and blamed TCP for it. On this occasion, president RCCI S. Ali Raza Saeed Shah, senior vice president Mian Attique, former presidents of RCCI Sheikh Shabbir, Hussain Ozgan, Amanullah Khan, Asad Mushadi, members of executive council and other members of RCCI were present.
