KARACHI - Six persons were killed in different incidents of violence and mishaps here on Sunday. According to details, chief cleric of MPA Hostel Mosque was gunned down in the limits of Preedy Police Station. Police said Abdul Jabber, 31, and Mujeeb-ur-Rehaman, 42, were having a dinner at a local hotel located near Passport Office where gunmen on a motorbike arrived and sprayed bullets. Resultantly, both of them sustained bullet wounds and taken to Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced the death of Jabber while admitted Mujeed with critical injures. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy while the FIR of the incident was yet to be registered. In another incident, a passerby was gunned down during exchange of fire took place at Gulzar Town in the precincts of Awami Colony Police Station. Police said tension and exchange of fire between the Awami National Party (ANP) and Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) continued since long over some land dispute which resulted in the death of an unknown passerby of around 25 years old. Separately, a man was killed here in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station. Police said that Gulab Zar, 25, resident of Khamosh Colony, was on his way to home when unknown assailants arrived on a motorbike and shot him twice. Culprits managed to flee while victims died on the spot and his body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for autopsy. Police registered the case against unknown assailants and handed over the body to the family after autopsy. In another incident, a man was shot dead in the limits of Khawaja Ajmair Nagri Police Station. Police said 25-year-old Riaz Nazar was sitting outside his home when armed men ridding a motorbike tried to snatched his cellphone and shot him over resistance. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced his death. Police registered the FIR against culprits and handed over the body to the family after autopsy. Separately, one Nadir Rahim ridding a motorbike was hit by an unknown vehicle in the limits of Saeedabad Police Station. Police said that deceased was on his way to home located at Baldia Town when a speedy vehicle hit him. He was taken to hospital where he died during treatment. Police registered the case against unknown driver and handed over the body to the family after autopsy. Meanwhile, a teenage girl drowned to death at Hawkesbury in the limits of Maripur Police Station. Police said that 19-year-old Rukhsar went on a picnic with her family when she got stuck in the tides of water. Rescuers were managed to take out her body after the efforts of one and half hours.
