SINGAPORE - South Korea emerged champions at the third Boy's Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey tournament, after beating Malaysia 3-1 in the finals on Sunday. The nine-nation tournament was held at the Sengkang Sports Complex in Singapore. The Koreans earned the final spot after upsetting favourites and defending champions Pakistan, with some excellent stick-work and team-effort in Saturday's semi-finals. They continued that momentum against Malaysia on Sunday. The Koreans led 2-1 at half time, and secured the cup with a 3-1 finish. Pakistan secured third place when they thrashed Singapore 6-nil in a repeat of their group stage encounter. Man-of-the-match Waseem Abbas opened accounts for the South Asians, who scored three goals in each half.
