An overhaul in PCB must to save cricket

ISLAMABAD - Najam Sethi has taken over the reigns of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as an interim chairman as suspended PCB chief Zaka Ashraf was barred by Islamabad High Court (IHC) to run the board affairs.
The first thing which everyone expects from the acting PCB chief is to completely overhaul the entire board set up which is are too competent to run the affairs of the board efficiently but after three days in the office, he has not taken any concrete step to streamline the things. Sethi has left for London to attend the ICC meeting so any immediate change in the board is deferred at least for the time being.
The first step the interim chairman should take is to show the door to the incumbent COO Subhan Ahmed, who has no experience to occupy such high-profile office while the PCB coordination wing headed by Brig Sajid should also be immediately dissolved and all the persons gathered from various departments on deputation should be sent back to their parent organisations to ease the extra financial burden on the board.
Nadeem Sarwar was appointed in the previous tenure of Ijaz Butt as General Manager media, but he has completely failed to justify his role. He remained busy in providing out of the way benefits to his blue-eyed journalists while genuine journalists were deprived of even basic information. Whenever required for comments, the GM media either doesn’t bother to take the call or despite making the promise of calling back never fulfilled his promise.
Nadeem remained in UK for almost 20 days on PCB roll and enjoyed all the perks and privileges along with TA/DA and after June 16, he took a week leave from the COO as his family also joined him in England.
Nadeem managed to land this job just on the intervention of President Asif Ali Zardari but now the regime has changed and elected government of Nawaz Sharif has taken over the helm of affairs of the country so it is highly expected that the incompetent and liabilities on national exchequer should be thrown out without wasting precious time.
Another thing which was long overdue and expected to be the top priority of the interim chief was the sacking of selection committee headed by Iqbal Qasim, which also include getting rid of coach Dave Whatmore, fielding coach Julian Fountain, bowling coach M Akram, manager Naveed Akram Cheema and above all Intikhab Alam who always enjoys one or another role in the PCB despite doing nothing on ground. But to the much surprise of all, Sethi has somehow overlooked all these issues of highly important nature.
Cheema and Whatmore have managed to remain at the helm of affairs for the important tour of West Indies. How could it be possible for the green caps to show satisfactory performances under the same management?
The entire nation and past greats have been demanding the sacking of entire team management, who had destroyed Pakistan cricket and especially some big names were totally ignored for the all-important last edition of Champions Trophy, but the PCB interim chief looks least bothered about these issues of high attention and has other ideas and directions.
Pakistan cricket is at rock bottom and people who remained clued to their TV screens and above all the cricket mad kids have stopped watching cricket and turned their attentions to other sports. With same persons at the helm of affairs of the board, it will be highly unlikely that the team will perform well in the Caribbean’s.
Before leaving for the ICC meeting, Sethi  should have taken some steps to ensure satisfactory results in the West Indies tour, but he left for London without taking any major or even minor decisions and left the game on the mercy of same old persons, who are responsible of current miseries.
