LAHORE - A lady police constable and a man were awarded imprisonment and sent to jail in two separate cases of narcotics on Wednesday.

Saadia, a police constable, was awarded 5-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000. In case of non-payment of fine, she will undergo imprisonment of further six months. Kamran was awarded 7-year imprisonment and Rs 35,000 fine. He will undergo 6-month more imprisonment in case of nonpayment of the fine.

As per details, South Cantt police took lady police constable Saadia into their custody when 40kg hashish was recovered from her.

An FIR was registered against her under Section 9/C of Anti-Narcotics Act. Naulakha police recovered 5kg hashish and illegal weapons from Kamran and registered an FIR under Narcotics Act against him in 2008.

On Wednesday, the judge convicted Saadia and Kamran and sent them to jail.
