ISLAMABAD - The legend sportsmen, women and Olympians will play their role as frontrunner in the torch rally of the 32nd National Games to be starting from tomorrow (Friday) here at the Pakistan Sports Complex.
Organising secretary of the Games Olympian Rana Mujhaid said: “All the arrangements to hold the 32nd edition of the National Games are finalised and we are hoping for successful conclusion of the mega event.
He said legend sportsmen and women will run the torch which will start from Faisal Mosque where former Pakistan captain and Director General of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Javed Miandad will be first one to start the torch rally while former squash world champion Jansher Khan, Qamar Zaman, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Olympian Qasim Zia, secretary Olympian Asif Bajwa, Olympian Shahbaz Senior, Olympian M Usman, Danish Kaleem, Shafqat Malik, Rizwan Bhutta, Olympian Sadaf Siddiqui, Olympian Rabia Ashiq (athletics), Col Qaisar Mustafa (volleyball), Rahila Kashif (table tennis), Nasir Ali, M Irshad (kabbadi), Suman Rasheed, Sonia Ali, Hasan Saheer (badminton), Iram Qureshi (body building), Miss Anam and Miss Sabiha (cycling), Mansoor Zaman and Syed Samiullah (judo) and other notable sportsmen will be part of this mega event.
He said 29 men’s and 11 women’s games will be held during weeklong event which is starting from June 28 and conclude on July 4, adding accommodation for players, venues of games and preparation of opening ceremony are also finalised.
He said contingents from different departments were now reaching to Islamabad as Sindh was the first one to reach on Wednesday with full contingent to take part in the Games while Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KPK, Fata, AJK, GB, Wapda, Railways and Higher Education Commission will take part in the mega event.
