Ten persons including four teenagers were killed in different incidents of road mishaps occurred in different areas here on Friday.
According to details, in Hafizabad, three teenagers of Mohallah Mughalpura were crushed to death when a bike they were riding was hit by Rawalpindi-bound Pakistan Express train near unmanned railway-crossing near Kot Nakka branch canal on Wazirabad Railway Section Friday afternoon.
According to rescue sources, 18-year-old Qamar Zaman along with his two teenage friends - 12-year-old Ameer Hamza and 11-year-old Muhammad Abbas was on way to Kot Nakka Canal Branch for beating near Shori Chattha on a bike. When they were attempting to cross the unmanned railway crossing, the fast-approaching Express train hit their bike as a result of which they were critically injured and succumbed to their wounds on the spot.
On the other hand, the body of Muhammad Abbas who fell into a canal could not be recovered so far despite strenuous efforts by Rescue-1122 divers.
Meanwhile, a young man of Jorianwala village, Muhammad Qasim was killed on the spot when an oil-tanker hit his bike near the village on Khanqan Dogran Road.
The deceased was returning to his village when the mishap took place.
In Muzaffargarh, four persons including a child were killed and 55 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus collided with a luggage-laden truck on National Highway near Hamzay Wali in remit of Alipur Saddr Police, some 100-km from here early Friday morning. According to Saddr Police SHO Muhammad Yousaf Lasahari, the accident occurred when the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions on Muzaffargarh-Karachi section of national highway in Hamzay Wali area of Alipur tehsil.
“The accident wasteh result of speeding,” he said. Bus LSA/363 was coming from Karachi and the truck (K-2160) was on the way to Alipur collided due to speeding. Resultantly four persons including 12-year-old Tayyub, Adnan, 30-year-old Essan Khan were died on the spot. While 55 others were injured who were shifted to THQ Hospital Alipur. Later five of the injured were referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan. In Khanewal, 14-year-old Dilawar was working in garden of Rasheed Shah, Mauza Fazil Shah, tehsil Kabirwala when he sustained critical electric shocks and died instantly. In another incident, a prisoner Arshad, a resident Chak 171/10R, khanewal died of heart attack in Central jail Multan.
In Toba Tek Singh, a Fesco assistant lineman Rana Muhammad Akram was crushed to death by a truck on Gojra-Samundri Road. The police said that the deceased was returning from Gojra to his hometown Samundri after duty when a truck coming from the rear hit his motorcycle, killing him on the spot.
