HYDERABAD: Eight passengers lost their lives while 25 others received injuries in a head-on collision between a coach and a van on Indus Highway near Aamri area of Taluka Sehwan late on Saturday night.

According to initial reports received from Edhi Foundation Hyderabad, the Punjab-bound coach was on way from Karachi and when it reached near Aamri it collided with a Mazda Van which was coming to Hyderabad.

After receiving information, Edhi ambulances rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to Taluka Hospital Sehwan. The identities of the deceased and injured could not be ascertained so far.

43 PROFITEERS FINED

Administrative officials, on the directives of Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Qazi Shahid Pervaiz, conducted raids in different markets of the division and charged Rs21200 as fine from 43 shopkeepers for violating official price lists.

According to a hand out issued by the Sindh Information Department, administrative officials of all the districts of the division continued raids at different markets to ensure sell of vegetables, fruits, meat and other edible items on prescribed prices and to check availability and rates of food items.

In Hyderabad district, penalty of Rs3500 was imposed on 4 shopkeepers, in Tando Allahyar district 6 shopkeepers were fined Rs2000, in Badin fine of Rs6100 was charged from 20 shopkeepers, while in Dadu district 13 shopkeepers were charged Rs9600 as penalty for profiteering.–APP
