PESHAWAR: Emergency Operation centre (EOC) FATA has launched an anti-polio campaign starting from June 27, 2016, three districts in response to a recent confirmation of polio case in DI Khan.

The drive has been launched in D.I. Khan, FR Tank and South Waziristan.

The decision was made on the basis of positive environmental sample gathered from D.G Khan and the recently confirmed polio case in DIKhan.

At least 111 mobile teams, 29 fixed teams, 15 transit teams and 375 community health workers will be administering anti-polio drops to 12,9539 children, under the supervision and security provided by political agents, commissioner and law enforcing agencies.

In 2016, the average percentage of target children covered during low transmission season 5 anti-polio campaigns (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr & May) in all over FATA has been maintained around 99%, with rate of refusal below 1% and polio cases zero.

In a recent Low Season PEI (Polio Eradication Initiative) review meeting at Governor House, the governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa praised EOC FATA for its extraordinary performance during low season. He appreciated the efforts for maintaining zero polio case status in FATA for the last six months.

He emphasized need for sustaining the current momentum and reaching out for vaccinating every child every time for ultimate polio eradication.
