HAFIZABAD-International Anti-Drug Day was observed here on Sunday and a walk was organised by Anjuman-e-Naujawanan-e-Hafizabad and Roshan Pakistan Welfare Society to create awareness among the younger generation regarding the ill-effect of the use of drugs.

Participants of the walk, led by Founder of Anjuman Abdul Jabbar Raza Ansari and Manager Sanaat Zaar Irfan Gondal, paraded from Fawara Chowk to Jinnah Hall where they stressed the need for stringent measures to prevent the sale and addiction of the drugs. They also disclosed scores of families are ruined due to the addiction of their sons/wards. Moreover, they said that crime ratio has also been increased due to sale and use of drugs. They further said that special clinics should be established at tehsil and district level for the rehabilitation of the addicts to save their lives.

TWO DIED

Two persons were killed and two others seriously injured in two different mishaps on Sunday.

According to police source, three bike riders - Faisal, Yasir and Zulifqar were on way to their village when near Kot Ladha on Gujranwala Road, tyre of a speeding car (LS-843) exploded. As a result the car hit the bike riders and all the three sustained serious injuries.

They were shifted to DHQ Hospital Hafizabad by Rescue-1122 where Zulifqar, resident of Aroop succumbed to his injuries. The car driver managed to escape after the accident.

According to other report, a 10-year-old Zain Ali, son of Muhammad Azam drowned in Jhang Branch Canal near Mona Jhal. The deceased along with his buffalo entered into the canal for swimming but drowned. However, his dead body was fished out the villagers after about an hour’s efforts.
