Rs105b GB budget for FY 2021-22 presented

Gilgit - The Gilgit-Baltistan budget for fiscal year 2021-22 with an outlay of over Rs105 billion was presented during a session of the GB Assembly on Saturday. 

GB Minister for Finance Javed Manova presented the budget proposals. He announced 10 per cent increase in the salary of government employees in Grade 1 to 22.

According to the budget proposals, Rs10 billion have been allocated for subsidy on wheat. It was the first budget of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) GB government.

The opposition patties including Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI) and one independent lawmaker Nawaz Khan Naji boycotted the budget speech.

According to the budget dacuments, Rs44.4 billion have been allocated for development schemes and Rs51.5 billion for non-development schemes.

For health department Rs60.1 crore have been earmarked, while Rs34 crore for education, Rs1.2 billion for works department and Rs1.3 bllion have been allocated for power department
