RAWALPINDI - Additional District and Sessions (ADS) Judge Khalid Mehmood Ranjha Thursday awarded capital sentence to a convict for killing his son-in-law who tied knot with his daughter without his consent. According to the details, ADS Judge Khalid Mehmood Ranjah awarded death sentence to Sher Muhammad alias Sheri for killing his son-in-law Nazeer Gul since he married his daughter without his permission. It was on August 27, 2007 when he shot Nazeer dead in a village in the limits of Chontra Police Stationand was booked under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Meanwhile, a Division Bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi in a murder appeal converted the death penalty of a convict into life imprisonment and acquitted the other for lack of evidence against him. The divisional bench comprising Justice Mazhar Hussain Minhas and Justice Mehmood Akhtar Khan condoned the death sentence of the convict Mazhar and changed it to life imprisonment after he was booked in a murder case in October 1998. The bench set aside the conviction of the co-accused Ilyas who was awarded life imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine. As per details of the case the two men killed Tanveer Hussain and Shahzad Hussain over a petty dispute during a cricket match in the limits of Airport Police 11 years ago. The father of the deceased Abdul Qayyum was the complainant in the case. Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Nasir Khan Durrani Thursday placed twelve constables under suspension on the charges of misconduct, involvement in nefarious activities and having links with criminals. According to details, it was brought to the notice of RPO Durrani that constables Manzoor Nasir, Nadeem Iqbal, Abdul Hamed, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Nadeem, Faisal Rafique, Mushtaq Ahmad, Saeed Ahmad, Ibrar Ahrnad, Javed Hasan, Muhammad Ehsan and Abid Ayub were mixing up with criminals, receiving monthly from narcotics peddlers, prostitution dens, providing them shelter for running their business and they also enjoy bad reputation in the area. They also informed the criminals before police raids. He conducted secret enquiry and allegations were proved against them. Upon this, Nasir Khan Durrani placed all the twelve constables under suspension and also issued show cause notices for the award of major punishment.
