Butt refused to reinstate Miandad: In another television show, Sports Minister said that PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has turned down his request to reinstate former captain Javed Miandad into the board's hierarchy. Miandad had resigned as the Director General of Cricket in February, accusing Butt of backing out of an earlier understanding over the powers to be designated to him. Jilani said that he had personally requested Butt to patch up with Miandad and give the former cricketer back his designation. "Today he is not willing to listen to us on an issue which needs to be resolved for the good of Pakistan cricket as Javed Miandad is a big name and deserves respect in the PCB," Jilani said. The Senate standing committee on sports also advised Butt to sort out matters with Miandad and reinstate him but that also didn't work. The PCB accused Miandad of demanding high salary and resigning because his monetary demands were not acceptable to the board, a claim that Miandad denied and challenged the other PCB officials that he was willing to work even without fees if they also did the same. Jilani said Butt had told him he would not accept Miandad in the board again after the way he (Miandad) had spoken about the board. Meanwhile, Miandad has been appointed by the government as the cricket ambassador for China.
