LAHORE –The issuance of the nomination papers for national and provincial assembly seats surged to 3664 on Tuesday while 41 were submitted by the candidates before returning officers.

Nomination papers supplied for national assembly are 1662 while 11 contestants submitted the papers, an Election Commission official said.

On provincial seats 3002 nomination papers were issued while 30 Contestants submitted papers to their concerned returning officers. In Lahore, 714 nomination forms were issued to contesters while nine contesters submitted their nomination forms. The nomination forms which were obtained include 162 forms for National Assembly, 331 for Provincial Assembly and 163 reserve seats for women, 59 for minorities.

Moreover, On the other nine contesters submitted their nomination forms which include names of Imran Chishti for NA-123, Jahangir Ashraf Vayne for NA-118, Syed Fawad Hussain for PP 144, Muhammad Shehzad Malik and Nadeem Hameed for PP 138 while three candidates for reserve seats for women and one for minority.

Nomination forms could be obtained from Returning Officers by March 29. The scrutiny of nomination papers would be done from March 30 to April 5.

Last date for filing of appeals before tribunal against the rejection/acceptance of nominating papers by the returning officer will be April 9.Pulbication of revised list of candidates will be April 18.

The party workers of different political parties obtained nomination forms on behalf of several candidates including Sardar Latif Khan Khosa, Shafqat Mehmood of PTI, Aslam Pervez Garha, Habibullah Wraich, Arshad Javed Ghurki, Aurangzeb Barki and Arshad Niazi.
