KARACHI  - Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator, Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that the Government of Sindh has released the funds for salaries of KMC employees.
The payment of salaries of employees from grade 1 to 5 for the month of February has started whereas the salaries of employees from grade 6 and above would be paid in three days.
He said this while meeting with a delegation of Sajan Union under the leadership of Syed Zulfiqar Shah, said a statement issued on Monday evening.
The Administrator Karachi said that the salaries for the month of March would be paid by 10th of next month. He said that the timely payment of employees’ salaries and pensions was his first priority and they were doing their best to pay employees’ salaries on time every month.
He informed it was first time after one and a half years that the employees were being provided with three salaries in 45 days. Finance Department has planned for paying employees salaries by 10th of every month, he said.
He also said that retired employees’ pensions, gratuity and other arrears would be paid in three months.
Hashim said funds for employees salaries of five DMCs would be released soon.
He said Rs80 million were due for pensions out of which Rs25 million would be paid each month.
The Administrator Karachi said that the “son quota” in KMC would be implemented and senior, deserving employees would be promoted and any order for regularising contract employees from Government of Sindh has not been received so far. As and when the directives in this regard are received the contract employees would be regularised.
He said one month Fire Risk Allowance of employees of Fire Brigade Department was being paid whereas two months’ allowance would be paid soon.
He assured the union officials that the employees belonging to Hindu and Christian minority communities were our brothers and all employees were equal in KMC and the salaries of Hindu employees were being paid on Tuesday due to their Festival of Holi whereas salaries of Christian employees will also be ensured before Easter Festival.
On this occasion Metropolitan Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Financial Advisor Khalid Shaikh, Director General Technical Services Altaf G Memon, Senior Director Medical Services Dr AD Sajnani, Senior Director Municipal Services Dr Shaukat Zaman,
Senior Director HRM Shoaib Waqar, Senior Director Local Taxes Masood Alam and other officers were present.
