PESHAWAR - The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) disgruntled members on Tuesday announced to launch an accountability movement against their party provincial leaders.

They said they would not support the JI candidates at any constituency in upcoming elections.

Addressing a news conference here at press club, Central Ameer of his own faction JI-Ihtisab Group Sanobar Khan said that he along with other JI former members had decided to detach ways after developing differences on certain basic principles with party provincial leadership.

He said that though they were taken the issue on the party’s forum several times but to no avail.

Sanobar Khan, who claimed to be the former member of Jamaat and general secretary of district Charsadda, alleged that a specific group had occupied the party for the sake of their personal interests and ignore all the party principles in almost all the matters.

He said the party leadership were violating the party Constitution.  “We are not ready to remain silent over violation of the principles,” he added.

He said that we had now principally decided to detach from the JI in shape of JI-Ihtisab Group aimed to launch an accountability movement against the party corrupt leadership.

“We will not support the JI candidates at any constituency rather we will try to bring our own candidates to contest the upcoming general elections,” he added.

He said that in case, if we did not have our own candidate at a constituency, then we would support candidate of any other political party.

He said according to the JI’s Constitution, the party ticket would not be given to a person who is not the party’s member and more than one ticket would also not be given to any party’s worker or leader but the JI leadership openly violated these principles.  Similarly, he maintained the Constitution further stated that the party tickets would not be given to any former minister or member assembly of the MMA government, upon whom objections were made.

He said the donations of Al-Khidmat Foundation could not be used for political purposes or personal benefits but the current leadership of JI excluded the accountability chapter from the party’s manifesto virtually.

They also demanded action against Asif Luqman group and Mirajud Din group in district Nowshehra and vowed to unveil corruptions of party leadership.
