E&T detects wedding profiteers

LAHORE – Director General Excise and Taxation (E&T) Punjab on Tuesday ordered its staff to enhance the property tax network by bringing more marriage hall in tax net. He issued these orders and assigned duty to an Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer, Malik Aslam to conduct survey in this regard and report him within ten days. Talking to TheNation Malik Aslam said that he would conduct a survey in this regard and report to the DG within week.
He was of the view that some property owners have established marquees marriage halls in the city and they had also decorated them for the marriage and other ceremonies purpose but they do not pay tax to the E&T in line with their income. He said that Punjab government would be in position to earn millions in the tax head. Such halls were spread in Lahore and nobody was paying heed towards these tax defaulters.
