Kazakhstan thrash Pakistan 3-0 in Junior Davis Cup





ISLAMABAD - Pakistan lost 3-0 to top seeds Kazakhstan in the Junior Davis Cup Boys’ U-16 match played in Malaysia on Tuesday.
Pakistan finished second in the group and had already qualified for the knockout stage. Talking to this scribe Tuesday, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) president Syed Kaleem Imam said: “It was not a good day for the youngsters as they were beaten comprehensively by the top seeds. But I am quite satisfied with their performances throughout the international event. Their participation in this prestigious event provided them international exposure. It also disappointed our boys when Malaysian Airport authorities sent back our top player M Mudassar from airport and not letting him enter despite showing all the documents and proofs. Yet they did well and produced satisfactory results. I hope they will perform well in their next international assignment.”
In the first singles match, Abdal Haider lost to Zhansultan Chembotayey 2-1 after a fantastic fight. Abdal won the first set 6-4, but top Kazakh player then bounced back and won the next two sets with comfort 6-1, 6-2. M Muzammil played the second match against Bolat Mayr. The Kazakh played superbly and beat Pakistani in straight sets 6-1, 6-1. Nofil and Abdal teamed up for the doubles match against Bolat and Vladimir, but the Kazakh pair proved too hot for Pakistanis as they brushed aside them 6-0, 6-2.
