MULTAN - Jamiat Ahle Hadith (JAH) Pakistan Chief Prof Allama Sajid Mir has said that the Jamaat-e-Islami is responsible for the collapse of Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA).

Talking to the journalists here on Tuesday, he added that the responsibility of collapse of MMA lied on current leadership of JI more than anyone else.

To a query, he said that the failure of politicians in nominating caretaker prime or chief ministers did not mean failure of democracy. “The process of nomination is done under the procedure laid down by these politicians,” he added. He said that his party had also suggested the name of Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid for caretaker prime minister slot to the PML-N.

He lashed out at former president Pervez Musharraf, saying there was no room in Pakistani politics for him. He maintained that Pervez Musharraf was also dispatched by those, who earlier sent so-called Sheikhul Islam.

Referring to suicide attacks, he said that these blasts violated the basics of Islam as jihad was to eliminate the fuss and not to create it. He said that jihad was the most important pillar of Islam but it was the responsibility of government to wage it. “No private agency is entitled to announce jihad. It’s absolutely wrong. Terrorists are killing people not doing jihad,” he declared.

Answering a question, he said that Islam ordered protection of rights of minorities, adding that burning an entire settlement because of blasphemy committed by an individual was against sharia. “This incident has spread negative image of Islam in the world,” he added. He said that it was not just religious parties but other political parties too which wanted enforcement of Islam in the country.
