LAHORE – Three people, including two women, were killed in road mishaps in different parts of the City, police and rescuers said on Tuesday.

A 45-year-old woman was crushed to death by rashly driven vehicle in the Mustafabad area on early Tuesday. Police said that the woman, yet to be identified, was crossing the road when she had the accident. She was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The driver managed escape. The police have moved the body to morgue and are investigating.

In another incident, a woman was killed while her brother-in-law wounded seriously when a recklessly driven truck bumped into the motorcycle they were riding on, in the South Cantonment police limits.

Resident of Bhatta Chowk, Muhammad Arshad riding on a motorcycle along with his sister-in-law, Iram Shehzadi, was on the way to a nearby market when a rashly driven truck smashed into their two-wheeler. As a result, Iram died on the spot while Arshad was admitted to a local hospital in serious condition. The police reached the spot and arrested the driver. Further investigations were underway.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a tractor-trolley hit his two-wheeler in the Nawan Kot police limits on Tuesday. Police said that the motorcyclist, later identified as Suqran Ali, was going towards Bakkar Mandi when suddenly a tractor-trolley hit the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcyclist sustained multiple head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was removed to the morgue. The police have impounded the tractor-trolley while the driver managed to escape from the crime scene. Further investigations were underway.
