MIRPUR (AJK) - Kashmiris will observe Universal Kashmir Flowers Day across AJK and rest of the world to uphold their tradition and reiterate their peace-loving approach here on April 6.

This was announced by AJK Minister for Sports and Culture Muhammad Salim Butt at a crowded news conference at Kashmir Press Club here on Tuesday. He was flanked by City Administrator Chaudhry Muhammad Mansha and other senior officials of the ministry.

“People of Jammu & Kashmir are primarily blessed with very peace-loving approach and high moral and ethical values as they always demonstrate this approach in their individual and collective life”, Butt proudly remarked.

The minister claimed that all set for holding a grand public function at Mirpur Cricket Stadium expected 6 to be attended by at least 100,000 people from across Pakistan and AJK including the Islamabad-based foreign diplomats on April, adding that the visitors would be presented with the floral bouquets individually as a sign of peace, love and tranquillity which was the rich tradition of people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The grand ceremony will be followed by a cultural show to be participated by local artists of national and international repute to highlight the centuries-old cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir state, Salim Butt added.

He said that it would be a message to the world that people of Jammu & Kashmir believed in resolving all their issues through peaceful means.

The minister pointed out that similar ceremonies would also be held in all other district headquarters of AJK including the capital city of Muzaffarabad.

“Kashmiri expatriates abroad will also hold similar functions to mark Universal Kashmir Flowers Day in their respective countries with a special emphasis for performance of due role of the international community to help resolve the conflicts including Kashmir question through peaceful manners.

Girl abducted: A teenage girl was allegedly abducted by a young man here in suburban village Jaidke on Saturday. According to police source, 16-year-old Naila, daughter of Akbar Ali was heading to bazaar for purchasing something when accused Aqib allegedly bundled her into his vehicle and sped away.  The police have registered a case and are investigating.
