PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department has blacklisted a firm involved in supply of substandard weapons, ammunition and other gadgets to the police force.
According to details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police like every year have carried out the procurement of weapons, ammunition and other gadgets for operational policing in 2008-2009 through tender. The Firm M/S Majeed and Sons got this tender. Later on allegations of embezzlement in procurement of different items have surfaced.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took cognisance and conducted investigation into the allegations. The major supplier during procurement in 2008-09 was Arshad Majeed, the owner of the firm M/S Majeed and Sons. He was arrested by the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During investigation, he not only admitted his involvement in malpractices but also entered into a voluntary return of embezzled amount with the NAB.
He brought colossal losses to the national exchequer and tarnished the image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, and thus watered down the effects of numerous scarifies rendered by police in protecting the lives and property of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Keeping the above facts in view the Police Department under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Procurement Regulation Act blacklisted the Firm M/S Majeed and Sons.
