MULTAN

Rejecting reports that the Punjab government had abandoned Multan metro bus project, the Punjab minister for prisons disclosed that the government had approved funds worth Rs5 billion for the completion of road projects in Multan district.

“The Metro project is not scrapped. It will be launched soon. The funds have been approved for the completion of Vehari-Bahawalpur Road, Double Phatak Road and Nag Shah Road projects,” Ch Abdul Waheed Arrain explained.

Referring to Metro Project, he said that the route was being decided for the bus service. “As soon as the route is finalised, work will start on the project,” he added. He said that he was determined to bring Multan on par with developed cities and wanted to provide all basic facilities for the residents or urban and rural settlements of this district.

He declared that gas supply would be given on priority basis to those areas where this facility was not available.
