According to him, a police party during routine checking signalled two suspicious motorcycle riders, to which they opened indiscriminate firing on cops. During cross-firing, an armed dacoit identified as Aman Ullah was arrested on the spot in an injured condition while his accomplice managed to escape. The injured dacoit was moved to hospital for medical treatment amid tight security and a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area.
The spokesman further said that Aman Ullah is an active member of a notorious dacoit gang that is operating in the area of PS Koral. He was also wanted in three cases of dacoity and possessing illegal arms.
A case has been registered against Aman Ullah and other gang members with PS Koral while further investigation was on, he said.
Meanwhile, IGP Muhammad Ahsan Younas appreciated the bravery and sharp response of the police team adding that Islamabad Police will render any kind of sacrifice for the safety and security of people and that police are carrying out raids to arrest the fleeing dacoits.
