Hundreds of thousands rendered homeless, the economy brought to a halt, industry gasping due to loadshedding and politically isolated in the comity of nations - that's what Pakistan is facing today as a result of the war against terrorism. There is Tsunami of turmoil in every institution of the country. This is a very expensive bill we are paying for America's war, especially as terrorism is not of our manufacture. Terrorism is an illegitimate child of the US injustices. Why are we paying this price? It beats me completely. True, our illegitimate General had declared support of the US and acted as their mercenary to save his existence. But why should the nation pay for the deal made by such jokers? And above all why don't the present 'democratic' government take a stand? Why don't they call right a right and wrong a wrong? What are they scared of? -AMJAD H. MIRZA, Lahore, via e-mail, May 16.
