200MW coal project on the cards

LAHORE - Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that in order to resolve the energy crisis the Punjab government has decided to establish 120MW hydel power project at Taunsa and 200 MW coal projects at DG Khan in public sector. He said that the coal supply would come from Chamalang area of Baloc-histan. He was presiding over a meeting of working group for establishment of coal fired and hydel power projects. The meeting was attended by Secretary Irrigation and Power, Law, Mines and Minerals, Finance and other high-ranking officials. Khosa directed the concerned authorities to take necessary steps for the feasibility studies of the projects so that projects could be launched earlier. The working group under the chair of Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa was constituted by the chief minister to examine, discuss and finalise proposals and strategy for establishment of coal-fired and hydel power projects on Taunsa Barrage and DG Khan.
