Clash speculations proved wrong, says PPP

LAHORE - All the speculations of confrontation between PPP and judiciary have proved wrong and caused severe disappointment in the PML-N leadership, which was planning to play politics over the issue, says Sami Ullah Khan, Secretary General PPP Punjab. He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at party office after PPP Punjab Executive and Councils joint meeting on Wednesday. Rana Aftab, president PPP Punjab, Dr Fakhar, secretary information and other party leaders were also present. He claimed that PML-N Quiad Nawaz Sharif was expecting a clash between judiciary and PPP during Senator Dr Babar Awans appearance in the court. However much to the disappointment of the Opposition, the impression of tussle between the two was dispelled. Sami said PPP never showed disrespect to courts like PML-N did in past. Replying to a question about recent statement of Nawaz regarding PPP ministers, he said it merely showed his disappointment. He said Nawaz has changed his mind after abolition of clause of third time premiership. About the performance of PPP in the recent by-polls, Sami said PPP has come up with flying colours in the May 15th by-elections as it secured more votes than PML-N. He said in the by-elections, PPP secured 185,000 votes while PML-N managed around 66,000 votes and it indicates people were with PPP. About the PPP meeting, he said the party took some decisions in the meeting and decided there would be restructuring of PPP at district and tehsil levels, membership drive, expressed satisfaction over May 15th by-elections; complete trust in leadership of Asif Zardari and PM Gilani and celebrating the birthday of Benazir Bhutto with simplicity.
