LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level, meeting to review implementation on various projects with regard to provision of quality and comfortable transport facilities to the people at Chief Ministers Secretariat, here on Wednesday. Chairman Lahore Transport Company, Secretary Commerce and concerned senior officers attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the CM said the government was attaching priority to the provision of standardised transport and steps were being taken speedily for this purpose. He said investors were being encouraged for investing in transport sector, and they were also being given subsidy. He, while directing to complete the project of provision of 300 buses by the investors at the earliest, said besides buses being manufactured locally, steps should also be taken for buying LPG and CNG buses. He said he wanted to see the maximum buses plying on roads and the Lahore Transport Company should play its due role in this regard. He directed Lahore Transport Company to generate additional resources for infrastructure and to constitute a committee for this purpose. Chairman LTC informed the meeting about the steps taken regarding provision of buses. He said the negotiations of the Company with the investors were in final stages and soon new buses would be plying in Lahore. He was also informed about the steps taken for getting LPG and CNG buses.
