QUETTA - Khuzdar police in a successful attempt rounded up inter-provincial robber gang and the seized stolen NATO goods and vehicles in Khuzdar town. District Police officer Khzudar, Mohammad Ashraf Jattak, told the local media men on late Wednesday night that the criminal activities of looting NATO supplies after attacking the containers and trailers on main Quetta-Karachi highway continued for long. He said that on a tip off, police arrested two members of the gang namely Sanwal alias Doda Bungalzai and Abdul Majid from a local motel. He said that they were busy in planning for their robbery and were in communication with their gang leader. On their pointation, DPO told, police signalled a suspicious Mercedes smuggled car on the highway, but the driver sped away instead of stopping. After being given a hot chase, the police arrested the gang leader namely Abdul Qadir Baranzai from a village Jaffarabad. He said that the Mercedes car had no registration number, but a plate carrying the insignia of a private TV channel and Bureau Chief as designation of TV. The police recovered a stolen container used for NATO supplies, a pistol, two stolen vehicles and motorcycles. Police official said that the gang members after over powering the drivers and cleaners of containers carrying NATO supplies drove them away to rented premises located in Jaffarabad village, in the outskirts of Khuzdar town and sold the NATO supplies and disassembled the stolen vehicles and cut the containers into pieces. The police also show the media men the pieces of one of the containers. Ashraf Jattak said that police would also arrest the buyers of stolen properties particularly those who were involved in buying and selling of NATO supplies. He said that the arrested robbers were being interrogated and hopefully, the police would extort some useful information which might lead the police to track down the gang of dacoits involved in looting passenger coaches on the same Quetta-Karachi route.
