ISLAMABAD Following the serious concerns shown by the Supreme Court on National Accountability Bureaus performance, NAB Chairman Naveed Ahsan and his team have sprung into action and prepared a detailed report on its performance, which would be presented before the apex court today. The NAB offices remained open till late Thursday night with the Chairman NAB and his team taking a number of crucial decisions to gear up its performance, which came under severe criticism in the apex court when former Bank of Punjab President Hamesh Khan was produced before the court on Wednesday. Sources in the department informed that the Chairman NAB had immediately removed the Investigator dealing with Hamesh Khan and would likely to assign this task to Col (Retd) Mohammad Niaz. Similarly the NAB officials would file a detailed reply to the queries of the court about the newly appointed Prosecutor General Ehsan Qadir who was alleged to have taken Rs 1 million from the owner of Haris Steel Mills Sh. Afzal for getting the loan default case settled from the court in his favour. The sources further informed that NAB officials would also present a detailed report on the performance of its prosecutors and investigators before the apex court. The sources further said that Chairman NAB would also seek guidance from the court regarding the issue of recovery of the money from some of the senior lawyers including sitting Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr. Babar Awan, Senator Wasim Sajjad, Ch. Aitzaz Ahsan and some other known lawyers who had taken money from Sh. Afzal, the owner of Haris Steel Mills, for getting the loan matter settled in his favour by allegedly using their influence on the courts.
