ISLAMABAD - Emergency Relief Cell (ERC) of the Cabinet Division on Wednesday refused to provide helicopter service to CDA for extinguishing fire on Margalla Hills, which broke out near Kalinjar village, Sinyari Block on Wednesday morning. The source said the officials of environment directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) asked the ERC to send choppers for extinguishing fire on the hills. However, the ERC replied that it would not be able to provide the service till May 29, as they were busy in Hunza operation. On the other hand, the CDA officials were of the view that the service was acquired in emergency as the ERC had been established for emergency purpose. On Wednesday the fire broke out near Kalinjar village at around 11am but the authority could not succeed to extinguish it till the filing of this report. By then the fire had spread over an area of 4 km. According to the officials 8 to 10 CDA fire fighters fell unconscious during the operation who were rushed to the nearby hospital.
