LAHORE Wajid Ali, Rizwan Azam and Temur Arab reached pre-quarter finals of mens singles of the Maldives Challenge International Badminton Tournament while Rizwan Azam and Kashif Sulehri managed to reach Pre-Quarter Finals of Men Doubles. Wajid Ali of Pakistan beat Hussain Muhammad Maujood of Maldives in straight sets by the score of 21-4, 21-11 to reach pre quarter final stage in the Men Singles. Rizwan Azam also made to the last sixteen stage by beating Tengco Charlo of Philippines by the score of 21-18, 21-10. Most outstanding performance was given by young Temur Arab who won his two single matches to reach Pre Quarter Final Stage in Men Singles. In the first round match he beat Nail Mohammad of Maldives by the score of 21-3 and 21-6. In the second round he defeated Natividad Justin Wilbert of Philippines by the score of 21-17, 16-21 and 21-18. In men doubles Rizwan Azam and Kashif Sulehri beat Sri Lankas Men doubles pair of Karunathilaka Lasetha Menaka & Nayanajith Udara by the score of 21-18 and 21-17, to reach pre quarter finals.
